Being a mere year old at the time it was published I never saw that national geographic cover. I’m generally not too much a fan of their photography but that photo is a reminder of how forceful the medium can be..

The site statistics say that there are 400-500 visits to the site a day (that’s unique visits, not hits). I reckon that about two-thirds of them are bots rather than people, but then over 100 different people visiting the site a day still seems implausibly high. From comments I know that around about 20 people read it. Maybe all the other visitors are people who get here via google (my most popular search string is “fallen angel”) and then exit immediately when they realise they’re in the wrong place.
